I remember standing around the fax machine with a group of colleagues waiting for our first ever fax to come through, then it was www, what? and then, of course, email. But before all that palaver came along and before mobile phones existed, we jumped in our company cars, pulled up at a potential client’s business and walked in, head up, shoulders back and hand out ready to great the person with a firm handshake. Part of our sales training was, in fact, how to shake a person’s hand. True story! If the office wanted to reach me, they would have to randomly call customers in the area I was supposed to be in and leave messages to call the office if I turned up.
Then came the ‘Brick”. Motorola’s first crack at a portable phone. It was so big and heavy it was only ever considered to be a car phone. You could take it out of your car but only as far as the cord would allow. The rest of the mobile phone era is a blur as is the entry of social media, websites and whatever else you want to add to the list. The point is, in business, we are forced to adapt and deal with changes whilst managing the day to day, staff, finances etc. This is a juggling act and dropping the ball now and again is just part of owning a business. I understand this and plan to continue to build my business on this basis.
I believe that most business owners or people in general, have the ability to learn digital platforms and marketing, we prove that when we learn how to use the IRD system, accounting packages, smart phones etc. The reality is that you commonly don’t have time and quite frankly, your energy is best used elsewhere. Employing a digital agency to help manage the requirements of your business is no different to employing a staff member or delegating a task. You need to remain in control, but you don’t have to do the work.
Go Big Online is no different. We manage most of our products and services inhouse, but we also outsource the more technical and specialised tasks. This enables us to continue to scale your business as required. I have over 35 years of sales and marketing experience, 25 of that owning my own business’s and over 10 years in the e-commerce sector. I have a degree in project management and a proven track record of successful ecommerce clients.
Let’s see what we can achieve together.
